2013 Ram 1500 Wins Four Wheeler Magazine’s Pickup Truck of the Year
El Segundo, CA (January 7, 2013)
Four Wheeler magazine has given the 2013 Ram 1500 the distinction of earning its highly regarded Pickup Truck of the Year award. This marks the 24th year for this prestigious award where the newest trucks on the market are evaluated during a week of rigorous testing to find out which one will emerge victorious.
Each vehicle was evaluated in five categories:
- Trail performance
- Empirical data
- Highway performance
The competition took place over five days and 1,000 miles, providing the panel of seven judges an opportunity to experience every plausible condition from city gridlock to technical trails. Judges tested each vehicle’s performance, as well as the feel, comfort and design of the interior and chassis.
“Our readers use their trucks, sometimes in much harsher duty cycles than most would expect,” said John Cappa, Editor—Four Wheeler Magazine. “Within our testing, we integrate a number of challenges to push capability and durability. At trails-end, the 2013 Ram 1500 was our choice and winner of Four Wheeler Magazine’s 2013 Pickup Truck of the Year.”
“We are honored to have the 2013 Ram 1500 in the winner’s circle of Four Wheeler Magazine’s Pickup Truck of the Year,” said Fred Diaz, President and CEO of Ram Truck Brand and Chrysler de Mexico — Chrysler Group LLC. “This award truly shows the capability and durability that Ram’s new half-ton truck delivers, including best-in-class 25 MPG fuel economy, an exclusive air suspension, eight-speed transmission and a new interior with our next-generation Uconnect® system.”
To participate, a vehicle must be either all new or substantially revised from the previous model year. All vehicles must be available for sale to the public by January 15, 2013, have at least 1,500 units produced for sale within the continental U.S. and use a two-speed transfer case. The complete test results and vehicle evaluations for the 2013 Four Wheeler of the Year competition will appear in the March 2013 issue of Four Wheeler (available on newsstands January 15th).
