Ram Runner Wallups Ford Raptor in the Desert

Just about everyone has speculated about who would take the crown off-road, the Ram Runner or the Ford Raptor. In this test the Ram Runner came out on top with a 33-second faster lap time.

In some aspects we were a little surprised by the winner given that the Ford has been factory engineered. But it's hard to beat tuned wheel travel and improved shock damping in the desert. You can read the whole story here on www.pickuptrucks.com.

2. Still not a true comparison though, the Raptor is a factory truck, the Ram Runner is built with an aftermarket long-travel kit. And it costs $20,000 more than the Raptor. Let the sour grapes continue! haha

3. If all you wanna do is go fast in the desert this test was extremely fair. And to tell the truth, that's really what most people wanted to know; who would win in the terrain they were built for. The Ford even had an advantage considering much of the Raptor's original testing was done in this same area. So the big question was answered. Those who are unhappy with the results will surely comment on cost, daily drivability, towing, and so on. But if these things were your primary concerns you wouldn't consider either of these trucks.

4. Now whos defensive there Mr Mopar hahaha!

They are both great trucks but it's still like comparing my backyard-built pre runner to a Geiser trophy truck. Anybody should be shocked if the Ram Runner lost, it's the clear winner on paper. The Ram has more wheel travel, a linked rear, more shock dampening, and every bit of the same horsepower. So anybody saying the Raptor should win is on crack, I call shenanigans on the comparison.

Run the same test against a Ram Runner and Raptor XT, both trucks with factory-aftermarket parts. It'll be a closer test but the Ram guys will cry foul because the XT isn't street legal.

Anyway...
