Keep Your 4x4 From Rusting

Just about every state in the Union has to worry about vehicle rust in one form or another. But obviously a 4x4 body and frame will last decades longer in Arizona than it would in Michigan.

Besides parking and not using your 4x4 in the winter (which really isn't an option for most of us) what do you do to make the steel body and frame of your 4x4 last longer in areas with harsh winter roads polluted with salt?

1. It isn't the best trick, but whenever I'm back in Upstate New york, as soon as the weather breaks I will go to the quarter-pumping car-wash to rinse the salt off. That isn't realistic if you live there, but it works for the holiday/winter visits.

2. since i have snowplow trucks i have a salt spreader on the back with salt in the bed for weight and i cant wash it off until spring when the plow comes off for the summer and just recently i found the bed had rotted to the point were the bed was held together with the spreader mount and the dropin bed lliner
