Most people that live in or visit the area complain about the Los Angeles traffic regularly. Rather than whine and complain I've pretty much found a way to deal with it. I don't drive at regular hours. I leave for work before 5:00AM and I'll typically head home by 2:00PM (but that's not when my work day ends). I miss the bulk of the traffic. In fact the drive into the office is typically top speed all the way. Coming home can be hit or miss depending on the weather or if there is an unreasonable number of idiots on the road that day.
But the one thing I can't change is the lane width of the 405 and many of the other freeways in Los Angeles county. In order to fit additional lanes on the more-congested freeways, many of the lanes have been narrowed significantly. Keeping a Ford Raptor, modified wide 4x4, a dualie, or a full-width trailer can be exhausting. I can't even imagine how the semi-truck drivers feel. Am I the only one that notices? When I get out on the open highway outside of Los Angeles the lanes are like a playground. It feels like I have 3-feet or more to work with and ultimately it's a lot less exhausting.
