As odd as it sounds I have waxed my off-road truck more often than my daily driver. My off-road truck is white, doesn't show dirt or scratches, and isn't driven often. But by waxing it I can easily wash the mud off when I get it home from trips and those scratches are minimized.
For my daily driver though every could of years it needs a quick once over with the wax, polish, clay routine and it's the season now for detailing (and detail product testing). Here's one quick tip that I've picked up over the years. It may seem simple but using blue painters tape to tape off plastic trim pieces and emblems makes waxing much easier. Using this method minimizes clean up and keeps that icky white residue off of your plastic parts.
The second quick tip that I've learned is finding a cool place out of direct sunlight. It took me years to realize that parking structures are the BEST place to wax a truck. If you have a parking structure available to you be sure to use it! If you don't, find one! They are often empty on the weekend ;-)
