So we know the Concept Jeep J-12 will be introduced in Moab at the Easter Jeep Safari early next month. But of course you want to know more. So here ya go:
We know it has to be based on the Wrangler chassis. So the answer is yes, Jeep is teasing us with yet another Wrangler-based pickup concept. The J-12 will have solid axles and JK-based suspension front and rear. The bed does not appear to be a separate unit so it will probably just have the Mopar JK-8 kit minus the small extra cab. However, it is possible that the J-12 will have a composite AEV JK Brute bed.
We also noticed a built-in visor over the windshield similar to the visor on the '63-'80 J-trucks.
The front clip is reminiscent of the '63-'70 Jeep Gladiator truck. It looks very similar to what was found on the Nukizer several years ago and likely came from the same mold. This front clip was rumored to be a potential new product available from Mopar at one point. Perhaps that is being reconsidered.
We're gonna go out on a limb here and say that we believe the J-12 will have a Hemi V-8 under the hood and a manual transmission. Why? Well, because that would be the right thing to do. The rest will have to wait till we see it in person.
