World's fastest car for $1,000

Budget Bugatti Veyron Killer: XO-1

None of us will ever drive the world's fastest car, the Bugatti Veyron. And the truth of the matter is that most of us will never actually see one in person. It has a 1,001hp, 8.0-liter W16 engine and a top speed of 252-mph (limited to 230), the Veyron hits 0-60 in 2.5 seconds, and slams the 1/4-mile in the low-10-second range. But there is one car that you can drive and even own that will smoke it.

Enter the Traxxas XO-1. It's the worlds fastest ready-to-race supercar that burns 0-60 in 2.3 seconds and 0-100 in 4.92 seconds. That's right, 100-mph in less than 5 seconds! And it's electric! The catch, you can't ride in it. It's remote controlled. The Traxxas XO-1 is a 1/7th-scale RC car. Sure it costs $1,000 (complete with controller and batteries), but I bet you couldn't even get into the passenger seat of a Veyron for a grand.

Now I just need to get my hands on an XO-1, show up to one of Hot Rods Magazine's drag race nights, and put all the racers to shame...in the 1/16th-mile.
