Over the weekend I spent some time catching up on languishing projects. One of them was the Four Wheeler Carson trailer. The hitch coupler on the trailer was completely worn through. I'm not even sure how something like that happens. The trailer either has a ton of miles on it or someone used the wrong sized ball or maybe a pintle hook. Someone should have fixed this a long time ago.
No matter the reason it wore through, I needed to replace it. So I pulled out the Miller 375 Xtreme plasma cutter and went to work gouging out the old welds. Once it was clean and ground smooth I burned the new 14,000-pound coupler I got from etrailer with my 20-year-old Miller 185 MIG welder.
I didn't have the correct color red so I gave it a hosing with some military flat black that I had laying around. At least it won't rust. Trailer is ready for service!
