The Ram Truck brand has developed a new version of the unique RamBox® cargo management system to fit Ram pickup trucks with 6-foot-4-inch bed lengths. The addition of a 6-foot-4-inch RamBox model dramatically expands the feature’s availability to include the majority of Ram truck models, including Ram 1500 regular cab and Quad Cab® models and Ram 2500 and 3500 (single rear wheel) Crew Cab and Mega Cab models. Ram also will offer the RamBox option on the ST price class, making the feature available on all trim levels.
The new RamBox trucks with 6-foot-4-inch bed measures 60 inches in length versus 50.5 inches for the 5-foot-7-inch model – an increase of 18 percent. Interior volume grows proportionately, from 7.3 cubic feet to 8.6 cubic feet.
With the added length and volume, the new RamBox can hold long-handled shovels, one-piece fishing rods and up to 140 beverage cans.
For 2012, buyers will find that RamBox pricing has not increased. In fact, Ram has reduced the price of both 6-foot-4-inch and 5-foot-7-inch RamBoxes by 32 percent to an attractive $1,295.
The Ram Truck brand also announced that it would expand Ram 1500 Express model availability to include Crew Cab and Quad Cab® models, giving buyers an outstanding combination of value and performance among all Ram half-ton configurations. The Ram 1500 Express previously was available in regular-cab models only.
The Ram 1500 Express is aimed squarely at first-time buyers and owners who are seeking a vehicle with performance and style that they can customize and make their own.
The new Ram 1500 Express model offers buyers a standard HEMI V-8 engine with a 20 mpg rating for the same price competitors are charging for their V-6 engines.
Prices for the Ram 1500 Express Quad Cab start at $28,050, including destination charge. The Ram 1500 Express Crew Cab starts at $30,210. Ram 1500 Express regular cab pickups start at $23,080.
And finally, the Ram Truck brand announced that it would offer a new Ram 1500 Tradesman Heavy Duty pickup designed to deliver unparalleled capability in the half-ton segment.
With an 11,500-pound maximum trailer rating and 3,100-pound payload, the Ram 1500 Tradesman Heavy Duty tows and hauls more than any other light-duty truck. The Ram 1500 Heavy Duty’s 17,500-pound gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) also tops all half-ton pickups in the market.
Available exclusively as a 4x2 regular cab truck with an 8-foot bed, the Ram 1500 Tradesman HD is built for ultimate capability.
The Ram 1500 Heavy Duty incorporates several technical features that distinguish it from other Ram 1500 models and give it best-in-class capability for hauling and for pulling heavy loads.
For starters, the Ram 1500 Tradesman Heavy Duty delivers a 3/4-ton Ram 2500 Heavy Duty frame with increased steel gauges, heavy-duty axles and eight-lug wheel hubs.
The Ram 1500 Tradesman HD is equipped with the Heavy Duty version of the 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine rated at 383 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, plus heavy-duty cooling, larger HD brakes, the HD six-speed automatic transmission and standard Class IV hitch with lighted, above-bumper 4- and 7-pin trailer wiring connectors.
The Ram 1500 Tradesman HD arrives in Ram Truck dealerships in the first quarter of 2012.
