Well, I'm a few steps down the road on the Clunker, my '94 Dodge Ram. If you didn't know we are writing about 3 months out right now... or the April '11 issue.
So I painted the truck with a lot of sweat and sanding dust inhalation. Then I fixed some issues the front end had. Turns out factory sheet-metal-thickness parts don't like guardrails at highway speeds. Of course, as soon as I do that, Murphy shows up and the power steering box pukes its guts out and I have no choice but to drive it like that for a while frying the pump and not doing the already hammered box any favors.
All of that comprises the next two stories of the Long Range Clunker.
Of course, my buddy Murphy stops by not long after that, and the transmission decides to slip pretty hard-core. I tried a couple of bottles of Lucas Stops-Slip but even that wouldn't do it. So, here is the transmission, courtesy of Murphy on its way to get rebuilt with an eye for towing.
