Metalcloak Fenders for Jeep Wrangler JK

Metalcloak is fast becoming an industry mainstay thanks to a deluge of new product offerings for Jeep vehicles. The best part is that Metalcloak's unique designs are unlike all other products in the tube fender segment consistently achieving extreme levels of clearance. Check out their latest handy work...

Easy to unbolt, the removable tubular flares are just one of the many elements that we love about the Metalcloak armor.

The Wrangler JK is the toughest vehicle to build precision fit componetry for because of it's multi-dimensional body/exterior. Where a part would normally be flat on a TJ, the JK has a complex radius that challenges even the most capable designers.

Metalcloak started with a Ferro arm, which produces a digitized 3D rendering of the vehicles exterior, including each and every bend, hole, and angle of the factory sheetmetal. From there, Metalcloak's designers developed a skeletal inner structure that follows the exterior form while allowing direct load paths to the underlining chassis or frame members. This inner structure is similar to the foundation of a home, allowing for a solid and secure base to attach another layer of removable armor--the quick release flare.

This is how the Metalcloak JK front fender looks with the flare removed.

This multi-layer approach to body armor allows consumers the ability to strip down the exterior for serious rockcrawling and tight trail work, or fatten body protection for mud bogging or simply to be legal for the street. One Allen wrench allows the end user to quickly remove or install the precision fitting fender flare front and rear. Designated the Overline, the sexy fenders sit over the stock flare line of the JK, essentially achieving the industry's first true hi-line clearance with this popular platform.

We let Metalcloak use our new Project JK, The Silver Bullet, for a test fit of their second prototype set of front and rear JK tube fenders. This allowed us to put on 40" Good-Year Kevlar MTRs with only a 4.5" Trailmaster lift. Powder coated Silver Vain to match the theme of this particular build, the fenders are a great new option for JK owners everywhere. Look for a full installation story in 2011 in Four Wheeler.

Check out the trick-looking Silver Vain powdercoat finish we had the Metalcloak part coated with.

The Silver Bullet will be on display at the Off Road Expo show this weekend in Pomona, CA.
