Today marks the beginning of the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race.
Lucky for you, I am down in Ensanada, Mexico to cover the madness.
My plan is simple: Tag along with the chase crew of Team 71 Racing and attempt to capture the action as it unfolds.
Contingency is similar to a street fair, except that rides are race cars. Each team parades their race vehicle down main street for everyone see up close. Drivers and team members pass out all kinds of swag to enthusiastic fans, who covet everything from stickers to autographed t-shirts.
Hanging with Rick D. Johnson was fun, every few minutes somebody would come up asking for an autograph or interview. Being second off the line, Rick is one of the favored Trophy Truck drivers in the hunt for the overall win.
Eventually the parade leads to SCORE's Tech inspection area where officials ensure all the necessary safety equipment is in order on each rig.
Here are a few of the shots I captured today. Enjoy.
