Rally car racing is cool. How can you not like watching cars drift and jump on gravel logging roads, mountain passes, and forest roads, just inches from drop-offs and very immovable trees and rocks?
If you've been wanting to see this racing live and in person, you're in luck because the folks over at Rally America have released their 2010 schedule and there are races all over the U.S.
The Rally America season consists of National Rally Championships, of which there are six races, and Standalone Regional Events, of which there are at least eight races. The National Rally Championships are the big ones, and of the three classes in this particular race series, we're told that two are open to four-wheel drive vehicles. Last year, Travis Pastrana was the overall champion in his 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
Here's the 2010 schedule of National Rally Championships:
Sno*Drift, Atlanta, Michigan, January 29-30
Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, Salem, Missouri, February 26-27
Olympus Rally, Olympia, Washington, April 17-18
Oregon Trail Rally, Hood River, Oregon, May 14-16
Susquehannock Trail Rally, Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, June 4-5
New England Forest Rally, Bethel, Maine, July 16-17
As you can see, Rally America throws down some incredible racing in some very cool areas. There's gobs of info on each of these races on their website at www.rally-america.com.
