For the next few days we're on a sweep of Missouri and Tennessee covering a bunch of stories and we're beginning our trip with a visit to Custom Differentials in Bloomsdale, Missouri.
You may remember Jeremy Naeger from TTC 2008. He's the gent on the right. He and his brother, Pat, are outstanding axle technicians and they run the place.
We're down here to have Jeremy and Pat work their magic on a Ford Super Duty axle that has a zillion miles on it and is exhibiting signs of needing some TLC. We loaded the axle in the bed of our project Power Wagon for the seven hour drive from the Four Wheeler Midwest Bureau. We had no sooner arrived and the team was lifting the axle out so they could unbutton it and give it a preliminary once-over.
It didn't take Pat long to get the axle on some stands and start assessing what it would need after over 200,000 miles of hard use. Judging by what he found tonight, tomorrow should be an interesting day of rebuilding the unit.
Speaking of upcoming stuff, you may not know this but there's a 4-Wheel park right next door to Custom Differentials and several events are held each year. We were perusing the flyer on the Mud Bash, which is happening next month.
Back to our axle rebuild: Naturally we'll have all the details on what we found and how we fixed our axle in an upcoming issue of Four Wheeler.
