When Hot August Nights happens in Reno, Nevada the entire automotive industry stops to take note. Today I toured just one of the ten downtown venues where Hot August Nights vehicles were on display for the public to enjoy free of charge. It was my first time and all I can say is WOW!

The vast assortment of hot rods, custom cruisers, original restorations and oddball vehicles was absolutely amazing. I could have walked around for days without gazing at the same ride twice.

Lots of cool cars!

About an hour into my stroll, I decided a competition was in order. After all, Hot August Nights is a car show, complete with a show and shine contest.

So here goes…

A very clean Flat Fender Jeep

Best Stock 4x4........................1942 Ford GPW, owned by Jim House of Reno, Nevada.

One clean yet trail-worthy CJ-5
The interior was equally clean
Tuxedo park edition CJ-5s are the best version

Best Modified 4x4....................1965 Jeep CJ-5 Tuxedo Park edition.

One cool IH Pickup
Cummins Swap

Best Fullsize pickup................1962 International Pickup, with Cummins powerplant

Blazers are cool, even with bald tires

Best Fullsize SUV...................1972 Chevy Blazer

Then their are the vehicles that belong to those who simply come to walk the show. You typically see tons of cool rigs on the Highway headed to and from Reno. This super clean Jeepster was a real gem.

One clean Jeepster
