An electric rear locker was one of the many cool things Ford unveiled last week on the 2011 Super Duty.  This locker is a pretty exciting additon to the truck and we wanted to know more about availability, so we gave the folks over at Ford a shout.

They promptly answered our flurry of questions.  Here's the deal:

The electric locker will be available as a stand-alone option on single rear wheel (SRW) Super Dutys.  The limited-slip differential will no longer be available on SRW models.  The electric locker is not available on dual rear wheel (DRW) models.  DRW models will continue to use the limited-slip.

If you have a hankerin' for the FX4 package, the electric locker is a required option, as are all-terrain tires. Speaking of the FX4 package, it will include Rancho shocks, skidplates for the transfer case and fuel tanks, Hill Descent Control (which is specific to SRW FX4 package-vehicles), and "FX4 Off-Road" box decals.

Ford says that the electric locker is functional in all modes (4x2, 4x4 high-range and 4x4 low-range). It will have a feature that disengages the locker at speeds above 25 mph.

So there you have it.
