Ray Scoles of Mount Vernon, Ohio, is the Grand Champion of the 2009 Mickey Thompson Tough Trucks series in the Modified class.
The final race of the 2009 Mickey Thompson Tough Trucks Series was last weekend at the Indianapolis Fall Jamboree. Scoles came into the event with a 225-point lead over last year's overall winner, Sonny Dohrmund. Scoles ended up earning another 120 points in Indy, which helped him capture First Place for the season. Scoles winnings included a set of Mickey Thompson tires and $2,000.
"We had a good year. We had some breakage here and there, but it all worked out in the end," he says.
His Ford F-150-bodied rig has a modified '79 Ford Bronco frame, 406ci V-8 engine, TH400 transmission, NP241 transfer case, Lock-Right-equipped Dana 44 front axle, Ford 9-inch rear axle, and Sway-A-Way 14-inch-travel coilover suspension.
