It's official! Mickey Thompson has formally released information on the brand-new Top Truck Challenge-inspired Baja Claw TTC!
The Baja Claw TTC is scheduled to be available for sale in the third quarter of 2009. This is the same tire that helped Team Jerome set a Tank Trap record run of 6 minutes 8 seconds a couple of weeks ago at Top Truck Challenge 17. Team Latham was also running Mickey T's new Baja Claw TTC during the entire week of competition with great success.
The Baja Claw TTC may resemble the current Baja Claw, but it's a complete redesign with many added features. It has advanced bias-belted construction specially designed for rugged off-highway use including rock crawling, mud, snow, sand, dirt and gravel. It features deep shoulder lugs and has integrated concave blades to disperse mud and maintain maximum performance. It features Mickey Thompson's T5 compound, which makes the tire extremely durable and cut-resistant. Further, de-coupling elements and multi-angle siping were added to provide maximum traction on smooth rock surfaces.

The Baja Claw TTC is also the first tire with directional SideBiters. The 19.5x54-20LT Baja Claw TTC weighs 201 pounds and has an inflated diameter of 53.8 inches with 26/32nds of tread depth. Ken Warner, VP Sales and Marketing, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels, says, "Our participation in the Top Truck Challenge the past four years has given us the experience needed to develop this new tire. There is no substitute for the kind of extreme conditions that the Top Truck Challenge provides, and it was incredible to see these tires perform."
So what does competitor Brett Jerome think after spending a week in competition with these tires? "The tires are awesome and are by far the best big tires on the market. Just for fun, we went back and ran the Tank Trap three times after the event and one time in reverse. Those tires are awesome!"
We'll have more information on the Mickey Thompson Baja Claw TTC soon, including what it took to make these tires "happen" and if any of this tech will make its way to smaller diameter Mickey Thompson tires.
