All this talk about the Chrysler/Fiat "Global Strategic Alliance" got me wondering what's up with Fiat nowadays. After all, I haven't heard much out of 'em for quite a while. I'm old, and my memory is a tad cloudy, but I do remember driving my buddy's baby-blue '80 Fiat Brava. That was around '84. I think Wang Chung was on the radio. Anyway, I wondered what's up with Fiat nowadays, so I did a bit of digging. First thing I found was this Nueva Strada Adventure Locker "STX-L" that Fiat offers in Mexico.
Interestingly, the specs on it show pretty decent approach and departure angles. And it looks good in the creek.
This is the Panda 4x4 UK-version. It's front-wheel drive with a viscous coupling in front of the rear differential. It's powered by Fiat's 1.2L 8-valve FIRE engine.
Hey, I gotta give Fiat props for cool media photos of the little Panda 4x4 in the mud.
Fiat markets cars all over the world, and the lineup varies depending on the country. Most are cars, but they also have a line of commercial vehicles.
OK, that's it for this week's Friday With Fiat.
