Recently, a friend of mine was negotiating a deal with a vehicle exporter to purchase a slightly used diesel JK. The exporter, Auto Alea Global offered the vehicle for a very good price for such a rare vehicle here in the US. However, when he arrived in Miami, Florida to close the deal, the company told him he had to pay an additional $8,700 in importation fees to close the deal. My friend didn't want to spend the extra cash.
Now, I'm now math whiz, but if you had your heart absolutely set on a Diesel JK, wouldn't an additional $8,700 be easy to justify?
I mean, what would it cost to swap in a diesel from another vehicle?
Sure it's no Powerstroke, or Duramax, but it was built by the factory and nothing needs to be tinkered with to drive it away. The 2.4L turbo diesel makes plenty of torque for trail use, and you simply can't beat the stellar fuel economy...
