What's Up With Our Project Power Wagon?

Many of you have written inquiring as to the status of Project Power Wagon.  Well, this project is in full swing!  As a matter of fact, the current issue (July) of Four Wheeler includes a story on the installation of a set of 35-inch Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ tires, Dick Cepek Torque wheels, custom Daystar front coil spring spacers, and a Hypertech Max Power programmer.  But that's not all!  We also installed a Valley Odyssey II electric trailer brake control.  Why?  Well, we're setting the Power Wagon up to be a workhorse that can either bumper, gooseneck or fifth-wheel tow.

The folks at Kansas-based B&W Trailer Hitches make some nice stuff.  Last week we installed their Turnover Ball gooseneck hitch system, Companion fifth-wheel RV hitch and their Tow & Stow receiver hitch.

Here you can see the Turnover Ball system installed.  This system is cool because it allows you to simply flip the Turnover Ball when not in use, which clears the bed of any obstructions for hauling cargo.  Now we'll be able to tow a variety of goosenecks from flatbeds to um, livestock trailers.

This is the Companion fifth-wheel hitch and it's way cool because it easily mounts in the bed using the Turnover Ball system.  With this hitch we'll be able borrow and test fifth-wheel trailers direct from the manufacturers.

All of these B&W components showed excellent craftmanship and they installed in our Power Wagon easily and without surprises.  Attitude Performance in Arlington Heights, Illinois installed the components while we shot photos and video.  Video?  Yep, we broke out the 'ol Krappy Kam and made video of the install highlights.  You can view the video by clicking HERE.  The detailed installation story on these B&W components will publish in the September issue of Four Wheeler.

What's next for our Power Wagon?  Big Surprises!  Stay tuned.
