Powdercoated Hummer H3 Wheels

Yesterday we were at Attitude Performance in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and we were pleasantly surprised when our factory H3 wheels arrived freshly powdercoated from LO-KO Performance Coatings.

LO-KO Performance Coatings in Oak Lawn, Illinois (www.lo-ko.com), is the same company that powdercoated the formerly chrome tips on project Trailhugger's MagnaFlow exhaust system, rendering them a lovely flat black.  We were so impressed by LO-KO's work we sent 'em all five of the factory H3 wheels we removed when we installed the GT Inc. Simulock wheels.  Our new plan was simple: Have a second set of black H3 wheels shod with more aggressive tires that we can quickly swap on for trail running or when we simply plan to hit terrain that requires increased traction.  We're currently running the GT Inc. Simulock wheels with BFG All-Terrain tires since our H3 is used on the highway most of the time.

Here Attitude Performance owner Matt Dinelli holds one of the LO-KO powdercoated wheels still wrapped in its protective cover as we received it.  LO-KO mega-wraps the wheels to make sure they weren't damaged in their transit across town.

With the protective wrapping off the wheel you can see the nice job LO-KO did on our OE wheels.

In the photo on the top of this page you can see one of our BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain tires on one of our new powdercoated wheels.  Dinelli mounted a set up so we could see how the finished package looks.  We like it because it matches our de-blinged H3 quite well.  We plan to keep things simple and rugged and we'll skip the plastic Hummer center cap.  This system will make good use of a perfectly good set of wheels that would otherwise be collecting dust.
