Colonel Mustard For Sale

We posted this blog back in February and have held on to the Colonel as long as possible. Unfortunately things have not gotten better and we are forced to sell the Colonel within the next couple months. I wanted to re-post this up on FW.com before putting it up on eBay.

If you have been following along with our installments, you'll know that the Colonel is a '51 CJ-3A, powered by a vintage flathead, sporting Bilstein shocks and Deaver springs. There is hardly any rust, and the body is straight, although the paint isn't perfect, it sure looks nice and rates probably 7/10. The old Jeep has a rear seat and YJ seatbelts. We have added a Tuffy center console, Advanced Adapters Saturn Overdrive, tach and Line-X to the cargo area. The stock diffs have been stuffed with lockers front and rear, and the brakes are 11-in units all the way around with custom Stockton wheels wearing 30-inch BFG M/Ts. While in my possession, the Willys has enjoyed wheeling from California to Moab.

This is the rare chance to own a vintage Flat Fender and a piece of Four Wheeler history. I thought I would offer it up to our Four Wheeler readers first, but it will probably be up on eBay by July. Serious inquiries only can be directed to sean.holman@sorc.com.

2. Oooo, that sucks. You'd likely do better if you parted some of it out. The winch, overdrive, tires and wheels, and other nick-nacks are worth more separate than the entire package. Sorry. Welcome to owning, building and selling a Jeep. Think of it like this: It costs money to go to Disneyland. You really don't get much more than a few photos and memories.

4. Funny story...At Moab EJS (I think last year) Sean was having some trouble with his carb at altitude. A coworker who shal remain nameless thought it would be funny to steal the carb when the Jeep was left in the parking lot at the Jeep dinner many miles from town. Needless to say the prank never materialized but it sure would have been funny seeing the look on Sean's face when it wouldn't start and he lifted the hood to find no carb on top of the intake.

5. I may be in the minority, but Colonel Mustard has been the most interesting Fourwheeler project for a long, long time. I have owned several flatfenders over the years and just recently bought another to build. It is my hope that (A)no one comes along wanting to buy it and or(B) financial/economic relief comes along soon to negate the need to sell it.
