Profound Insight Number 1: If I were a betting man, I'd have lost a lot of money yesterday. Nice work by the Cardinals, even though they came up short in the end. As it turned out, I actually missed the game. Did anybody out there catch it? Was it as good as the sportswriters are saying? How about the commercials? Were they as witless as usual, or were there any good ones this year?
What happens to these teams from here? What does Pittsburgh need to do in the off-season to stay on top of the league? Is Arizona for real, or do they turn into a 5-11 pumpkin again next year?
Profound Insight Number 2: I saw my shadow this morning, too, which I guess means I'm at least as smart as a groundhog---or, more likely, that Phil the Celebrity Rodent knows what he's talking (barking?) about. Bad news for the Midwest Bureau, perhaps, but we're sending out some love by rescuing our Senior Editor with a mercy mission to the West coast for a few days later this month for a little winter tanning duty . . . and yeah, shooting some feature trucks too.
