As we usher in 2009 I look forward to an event called The King Of the Hammers.
Last year the race started on a dry lake bed and ran through sections of very fast desert terrain before traveling through some of the toughest hard-core rock crawling routes the Hammer Trails have to offer. Last year Shannon Cambell took the overall finish in his awesome Moon Buggy.
For 2009 the event has been expanded to accommodate up to 90 rigs.
There are several methods by which drives were allowed to enter.
The original racers (The OG 13) that came out for the 'first' K.O.H. test in '07 will always be invited back.
In addition, the top 10 from the previous year have secured a spot.
The other way to secure your entry via performance is by winning series championships in WeRock, XRRA, SCORE, and CORR.
The list of competitors can be found here.
I will be riding as co-pilot for Bart Dixon of Team DRE in his # 26 Jeep CJ-5.
Here is a short video that summarizes what it's all about.
