Testing wrapped yesterday, but today was an important part of the Pickup Truck of the Year process because it was the day when the staff completed their judging books. Our day began in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express in Twentynine Palms as we crawled in and under the rigs in order to gather the needed information on each rig.
We inspect and analyze every square inch of each rig. Here Gonderman and Smith inspect the Ram's built-in bed storage compartment while McColloch looks on.
Our judging books are with us all week so we can add notes. After each rig is judged, each staffer adds up the scores before handing them off to PTOTY coordinator Holman. He tallies the scores and unveils the winner.
Speaking of Holman, he finally got to build a breakfast sandwich using a HI Express biscuit, omelette and sausage. It's a long story.
The last item of the test was to RTI each vehicle in Los Angeles.
So who won? Sorry, you'll lhave to wait until the March issue to find out!
