Baja 1000 prerun with Pistol Pete:
Today we learned that Pistol's prerunner isn't boulder proof!
Prerunning the Baja 1000 race course in a trophy truck is kinda like riding a roller coaster with no track. The thrills never seem to stop coming as 800-hp and three feet of suspension travel soak up everything we encounter.
I've spent the last two days embedded with Pistol Pete Sohren's team scoping out the 2008 Baja 1000 race course. The race starts this Friday and we should be off the line just before 11:00 AM. We start 13th out of a field of 29 Unlimited SCORE Trophy Trucks.
Also along for the ride with Pistol's team is SEMA legal council member Russ Dean, TV personality Jessi Combs and a diverse cast of dedicated characters who usually support Pistol Pete's race effort. Last night we spent the evening socializing around a camp fire at the world famous Mike's Sky Ranch.
Today the chase crew headed to Ensanada to settle into the hotel and establish a base of operation. The following pictures were shot today. Enjoy.
