Realistically, today was the last day of Pickup Truck of the Year, and it was a stellar day! We learned even more fascinating stuff about the four rigs in this test.
The entire Four Wheeler crew was up early and gung ho and ready to go. Our day began in a sand dune area near Twentynine Palms, where we tested the rigs in deep sand. This environment test a variety of things including each rigs cooling system.
McColloch and Holman went gangsta for a brief moment. Guess they weren't always journalists.
After dunes testing the entire Four Wheeler staff invaded the local market to gather supplies for a trail lunch. The poor folks that work there never knew what hit 'em. We're wheelers, not grocery shoppers.
While we were in the store one of our Ram's tires was going flat in the parking lot due to sand wedged between a factory tire bead sticker and the wheel. A quick 10-minute fix put us back on the road.
Today's trail included a very cool narrow shelf trail that took us deep into the mountains. All the vehicles made it through this section with virtually no problems.
Trail lunches rock, and ours was at an old mine on top of a mountain that overlooked a spectacular valley.
We're mine junkies and we visited a fascinating old mining operation on our way back to town.
Tired and dusty, we returned to our motel to hunker down with our scorebooks. The testing is done, but now the judging commences. It's going to be a long night.
By the way, Stover never had to change a tire.
