Wheelers of the World, Unite!

Ahhh, the happy carefree days of the Warsaw Pact: The endless arms races, the proxy wars in various Third World countries, the long nights spent sipping shots of Stoly and singing choruses of "Back in the USSR" . . .  Okay, for those of you pining for a simpler, more innocent time, or for you younger folks out there who'd love to bring the romance of the Cold War to your local worker housing block, here's your dream ride: a '77 UAZ 469-B, the replacement in the Soviet model line to the old Gaz 69 pseudo-Jeep. These solid-axle 4x4 vehicles had fairly good reputations for stoutness on the trail, though Soviet metallurgy was not quite as exacting as Western manufacturers', so these puppies tended to rust. This example, which was originally configured as a 7-passenger troop carrier, we gotta admit is a really handsome resto, with original 2.5L gas motor, dual fuel tanks, hand crank for manual engine-starting, and a new soft top. This Commie cruiser obviously hadda be a labor of love for some resourceful proletarian out there, comrades, so we'd love to see a loyal FW party member pick up this deal. As it turns out, the rig's in San Diego, so heck, maybe we'll even go have a gander at it ourselves. Or, you can ruin our day and snipe it away from us, in the name of the People's Glorious Wheeler Revolution, right here.
