From the Creative Uses For Lava Rock Department, Heatshield Products, Inc. has released a couple of products made from volcanic rock. Yep, you read that right. Lava Mat, pictured here, and Lava Wrap, pictured below, both have the ability to withstand 1200 degrees F. continuously and 2000 degrees F. intermittently.
Heatshield Products says that Lava Wrap has all the benefits of an exhaust wrap, but is 25% stronger than fiberglass wraps. This translates to prolonged life and greater durability. Lava Mat is designed to protect hoods, firewalls and floor boards. It cuts easily and is adhesive-backed.
