For all you JK owners out there looking for high quality rock sliders, we really like the design of the Poly Performance JK Rocker Guards, so much so that we gave Dave a call and setup an install at Poly’s facility in San Luis Obispo.

Poly Perfomance Rock Sliders

We are heading off to the Rubicon next week, so I have been hurriedly prepping the ‘Con for its inaugural trip. We ordered up some bitchin’ Tom Wood’s shafts, including a new 1350 rear. We visited the dealer to clear a CEL. We cut off the exhaust tip so it wouldn’t be crushed. We installed Expedition One bumpers. We fixed an air leak from our OBA tank. And we got ready for some top off wheeling by getting a new stereo system, Bestop HOSS top carrier, and Rancho rock doors. Phew! Like I said B-U-S-Y. Before hitting the trailhead, we’ll also be doing some suspension improvements that we’ll feature in a future magazine story.

With all of that going on, we still found time to visit Poly Performance in San Luis Obispo last week where we had a set of Poly’s high clearance JK Rocker Guards installed. These rock guards look great on our ‘Con, really complimenting the new Expedition One bumpers, and feature 3/16-inch laser cut steel construction and protect the body from flare to flare and from the bottom of the door opening to below the body mounts. Poly’s rock guards are available for the 2-door and 4-door JK, are sold as a pair and will work with or without a body lift. Poly has also tested these rockers (as we will soon), on the Rubicon.

The nicest thing about Poly’s sliders are the little details, such as the high quality hardware kit that uses nutserts to make for an easy installation and a design that hugs the curved body of the JK, something many competitor products don’t. This is one aspect of the design that took Poly some time to perfect, and it was well worth it because these guards are so integrated, they almost look factory. And if you don’t like them powder coated, Poly will happily send them to you raw.

We’ll have a full install write-up in a future issue of Four Wheeler and we’ll let you know how this beefy armor upgrade does out on the trail. And if these rocker guards repel rocks as well as they invite attention and questions back in the city, then Poly has a huge hit on their hands.
