A few weeks ago while on vacation I went to a 4th of July parade in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, and saw this float titled "Favre 4 President." Yep, Wisconsonites take their Packers quite seriously.
On the float were a bunch of people, some wearing the trademark "cheese head." On the side of the float were 10 amusing reasons why Favre should be president. Of course back in early July no one had any idea that Favre would have a change of heart and tire of retirement. As a Packer fan I have to say that I had already accepted the fact that when my boyz hit the frozen tundra of Lambeau this season they'd be doing so without 'Ol Number 4. But then, just as Favre used to surprise us on the field, he surprised us off the field by suddenly abandoning retirement. Of course that created major drama. But that wasn't the end of it. In a move that no one would've believed would happen he got traded to the New York Jets yesterday. I actually heard they'd even have him wearing the number 4.
This is going to be weird. But hey, I'll deal with that next Fall. For now I'll console myself with the Cubs, who are in First place 5 games ahead of Milwaukee. I just hope "Big Z" Zambrano, DeRosa, Soriano, Soto, Ramirez or Fukudome don't decide to retire at the end of the season. I can't take anymore retirements.
