In my 45 years there is only one car I wish I wouldn't have sold, and it was this '77 Pontiac Trans Am.
Notice I said car and not truck. Heck, I've regretted selling every truck I've owned at some point in time. But cars? Not hardly.
My wife is sorting through old photos in preparation for her parents upcoming 50th wedding anniversary celebration and she found these snapshots of my T/A. This was actually the 2nd Trans Am I owned in succession. The 1st was almost an exact duplicate visually, but this car was my favorite of the two. Unlike my 1st car, which was loaded with options, this one was a stripper. It had a 400ci small-block, Muncie M21 four-speed (replacing the factory Borg-Warner T10), manual roll-up windows and no air conditioning. The car had been meticulously refinished and the workmanship was incredibly well done. Just take a gander at that glassy finish. The hood birdy was painted on as was all the badging. And heck ya, the car could get up 'n go pretty darn good, even with the boat anchor 400ci engine.
If I ever quit working on trucks long enough to have a car project I'd like to find a '79 Trans Am and stuff it with an 8.1L big-block and Allison transmission. That would be ill.
Holman, heck the whole staff, has had to listen to my Trans Am stories at some point in time. They're probably hoping now I'll give it a rest.
