The event went down in a area just outside the picturesque city of Kelowna BC. The terrain was badly burned in a large forest fire some 5-years ago. As such, I decided to dub the event "Battle @ Blackwood". You see all the trees in the area were dead, blackened by the hot flames that left the area completely void of vegetation. This allowed for some awesome visibility for over 100 spectators, some who traveled as far as 20 hours to watch the carnage. And carnage they got. The XXRA style rock race was short and sweet, consisting of just 8 well-built rigs. Two separate courses were run by each competitor. Each featured large rocks, stumps, logs and loose climbs. The fastest time through was 2 1/2 minuets. By the end of the comp only three rigs remained drivable. Here are some of the awesome pictures I shot while there.
