Last Friday we took our '08 Hummer H3 Alpha to Bergstrom Hummer in Madison, Wisconsin, for its 14K service.
We've been piling alot of miles on our Hummer lately and many of those miles have been accumulated while pulling a trailer. One of the trailers we've towed recently is this dual-axle U-Haul trailer. It was packed with household goods that had to go to our daughters new apartment at college. At 65 mph the H3 Alpha returned 14.3 mpg while towing the load.
The Hummer service schedule hasn't called for anything major yet, so once again Bergstrom technician Mike Wedel (yes, the same gent who installed our rocker protection and roof lighting) only had to change the oil and complete the Multi-Point Inspection.
On our last visit we had the Bergstrom crew check out a non-operating cargo door light switch. They found that it was corroded and they ordered a new one. While we were there on Friday they spliced in a new switch, which was covered under warranty.
Our son Dan can't get enough of the Hummer brand and he scrambled up the rocks to check out a new H3 that was on display in front of Bergstrom. He was likin' the white-with-no-chrome look of this rig. Dan also wants to thank the folks at Bergstrom for the "tasty" donut.
This marks Trailhugger's 5th service visit to Bergstrom Hummer for regularly scheduled maintenance. Each of the five visits have included an oil change and multi-point inspection. Also included in that figure is one tire rotation at 5,112 miles. We've been rotating the tires ourselves since then just because we can. These five maintenance visits have totaled $173.69, which we think is very acceptable for 14,000 miles of ownership.
