A few weeks ago we posted a blog about how Hummer vehicles were utilized to provide aid to Midwest flood victims. In response to that piece reader Mike Powell sent us a slew of images of Hummers working during the tragic Midwest flooding. All of these images were taken by "a good friend" of his. As you can see by this image the Hummers had to negotiate some areas that were heavily damaged to reach flood victims.
Many of the drivers of these rigs were GM employees that had undergone Red Cross training. They were deployed to the Red Cross headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, and then assigned to specific flood-ravaged areas. All told this operation lasted 10 days with the first 5 days spent working out of Indianapolis delivering food, water and other essentials to hard-hit areas. The crew also worked out of Vincennes, Indiana, conducting damage assessments for 5 counties in Indiana and Illinois.
