What do you do when you want a regular cab shortbox pickup but the manufacturer doesn't offer that configuration? Well, if you're Matt Dinelli at Attitude Performance in Arlington Heights, Illinois, you build it yourself.
Dinelli purchased a thrashed '01 2WD regular cab longbox pickup and removed 16 inches of frame so he could fit a used shortbox. He then had the rig fitted with Hannemann Fiberglass Inc. bedsides, front fenders and hood and then he had the rig painted white. A Fabtech 4-inch suspension lift made it possible to fit 37x12.50 tires. On the inside he removed the trashed stock seating and replaced it with Beard seats complete with 5-point safety harnesses. There's also a smaller seat in the middle for his son, Jake.
The rig will serve as a "shop truck" that will be used to fetch parts and supplies. The next planned mod is the removal of the 5.4L V-8. It will be replaced by an '04-'06 Cummins diesel engine.
We've seen this prerunner-styled truck and it's pretty cool. It's also very rare here in the Midwest. The short wheelbase has helped to make the truck very nimble, which will come in handy whether its maneuvering through Chicago traffic or down a trail.
