Project H3 Alpha: Part, um, 6 (or something like that)

Lights 'n bars for our no-bling Hummer

To us a Hummer just ain’t a Hummer without roof marker lights.  On the topic of mandatory must-haves, we think every Hummer, heck, every trail rig, should have rocker protection too.  But alas, we had to hang our heads in shame because our Project H3 Alpha had neither.

To recitify this obvious travesty we boogied on up to Mad Town (that's Madison, Wisconsin, to you non-Midwesterners) to pay a visit to our friends at Bergstrom Hummer for a little accessory love.

We stood around and tried to look busy and intelligent while technician Mike Wedel installed a pair of rock rails.  If you want to get all fancy they’re officially called Hummer Rocker Protection and they’re part of the Hummer Accessories.  The 16-bolt install was quick ‘n easy thanks to factory-drilled and tapped holes in the frame.

The roof light install was quick and painless too.  This was due to two things: First, Hummer thought this one out.  The Roof-Mounted Marker Lamp Kit, also available through Hummer Accessories, came with everything needed to complete the install.  It even included a template to show you where to drill into the roof.  Sure, a template may seem like a small thing, but it makes drilling holes in your roof a not-so-sweaty experience.  Accuracy is good.  Second, our technician had gobs of experience installing the lights.  Experience is also good.

So now we have cool roof lights and beefy rock rails.  We can hold our heads up high because our rig is lookin’ ALL-BUSINESS.  We think the lights and bars compliment the Burnsville Off Road-applied Keystone Auto flat clearcoat and the rockin’ black GT Inc.wheels.  Thanks a bunch to the boyz at Hummer for helping us procure these items.  BTW, we trotted out the 'ol KRAPPY KAM and made a short vid of the install too, and you can see this fine cinematic achievement by clicking below.

Oh, one more thing: We’ve finally got around to naming our H3 Alpha project.  It’s officially called “PROJECT TRAIL HUGGER.”  We’re hoping we never run it into a tree.
