Keep your fellow enthusiasts informed right here . . .
Over the past few months, we've posted notices in our blogs regarding land use issues and trail closures whenever we've been privy to important developments. But with the myriads of federal, state and local agencies around the country, and the equally manifold challenges being faced by ‘wheelers in varying locations, it’s a little hard for us to stay abreast of every threat that’s being faced everywhere. And all too often, we only learn of some trail closure or wilderness designation after the fact.
So, this is where you come in.
Starting soon, we will launch a new forum dedicated to Land Use Issues, and this is your opportunity to share your latest news, views and concerns over trail closures, restrictions, and government hearings in your area. Our forum may not quite be Facebook for Wheelers, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned in recent years, it’s this: for creating social networks of like-minded folks around the world, for spreading news in a timely fashion, and for forging alliances to achieve a common purpose----be it for political advocacy, or simply just for fun---nothing beats the Internet.
So log onto our forums and keep your fellow wheelers informed of things that are going on in your area as you hear about them. The sooner we all can learn about potential closures and other harmful legislation, the better we’ll be able to organize effectively and pro-actively, to keep our favorite trails and wheeling spots open and accessible.
And if you haven't joined a four-wheeling advocacy group yet, there really are no more excuses. There are plenty of em out there doing good work, such as Blueribbon Coalition, United 4-Wheel, CORVA, Friends of the Rubicon, Tread Lightly!, ORBA, and many more. Log onto their Websites, check out their mission statements, then make a donation and get involved. Armchair 'wheeling won't keep our trails open for us.
