Has the Florida legislature lost its mind? Did they ever have one in the first place?

We blogged about this a few weeks ago, and what was once idle talk is now poised to become policy: the Florida Senate passed an amendment last week to criminalize---are you ready for this?---the popular truck accessory sometimes referred to as Truck Nutz, Truck Ballz and the like. The Senate amendment, part of a bigger transportation bill, still has to pass the state House and be signed into law by the governor---but if nothing changes between now and then, state troopers in the Sunshine State will be empowered to write you a citation that’ll set you back $60 if you get caught with these ornaments dangling from your bumper.

At least the vote was not unanimous, and at least some legislators showed some common sense:

"I find it shocking we'd tell people with metallic testicles on their bumpers that this is a violation,” said Sen. Steve Geller, D-Hallandale. “There's got to be better things for us to spend time debating.”

Now, like we’ve said before, these Truck Ball dealies are not our cup of tea. We don’t run ‘em on our rigs, but we don’t have any problems if you do. Besides, don’t policemen in Florida (and everywhere else) have enough work to do already?
