YARD SALE! It's been a crazy day here at the Texas Jamboree in Baytown. Chris Bergeron stuffed his monster truck "Spike" during freestyle when a seemingly harmless wheelstand went bad. In a surreal scene a massive swarm of bees swarmed us as we shot photos of the cleanup in the infield. That was weird.
Yep, Texans love their trucks and an impressive number of people made the trek to Houston Raceway Park to peruse the trucks as well as the goods in the Performance Marketplace.
This Jeep stood out for obvious reasons. It was created by a U.S. Army former Captain and current Captain in tribute to the guys they served with in Iraq and Afghanistan. The silhouettes of the soldiers were created from photographs they anapped of their buddies and the attack helicopter silhouette was created from a photo of a pilot friends helo.
We had a chance to check out a Critter Gitter. As you can see it obviously went to our heads. These machines are incredible. They remind us of a luxury houseboat on a monster truck chassis. This one had a wet bar, night vision, gaming table, nav, remote control access ladder, coilover suspension and much more. The Shop Offroad in Texas builds 'em and one can be yours for around $275 to $300 thousand dollars.
The Toyota Trail Teams off-road course was a happening place to be today. For free you could drive a Tacoma or FJ Cruiser on the entertaining course.
Superlift Suspension had the Houston Hooter's Girls. Um, what else is there to say?
We're Tough Truck junkies, and we weren't disappointed with today's action. It was a short course but it was big on air.
WE SHOT A SLEW of trucks for Reader's Rigs Magazine today and we met a lot of cool people. The show continues tomorrow. For us it's time to get on a plane and head back to the office, but we'll be in Anderson, North Carolina, NEXT WEEKEND for the Jamboree in Anderson.
