Some like Chevys, some like Fords, but we all like . . . beer!!

Something completely different today: What’s your favorite beverage of choice to crack open at camp after a long dusty day on the trail? Or at a backyard barbecue on a hot summer day? Or just about any other time when you’re thirsty? And no, if you answered “vodka martinis,” “a fruity chardonnay” or “Freckle-Face Strawberry Kool-Aid,” you are clearly surfing on the wrong frequency here.

For the sake of accessibility, just about all of the brews on my list are pretty much available in grocery and/or liquor stores across the US. I like my beer with strong legs and a long aftertaste, and it has got to come in a bottle, thank you. And yes, this list is based on thousands of hours of rigorous taste-testing under clinical conditions and  . . . yeah, right, whatever:

1. Stella Artois: Equally at home in a four-star restaurant or at the local pub.

2. Pilsner Urquell: The original pilsner, and still among the elite.

3. Anchor Liberty Ale: Like its brother Steamer, one of America’s best.

4. Paulaner Hefeweizen: Wheaties are always the breakfast of champions.

5. Sapporo Yebisu: Nothin’ better with a shot of sake and a side of raw fish.

6. Chimay Red: Still one of the best old-school monk brews.

7. Negra Modelo: Sweet yet crisp, the perfect foil to a fajita platter.

8. Samuel Adams Boston Lager: The godfather of microbrews continues to rock.

9. Ommegang Trappist Ale: From Cooperstown, NY, an ideal brew for baseball.

10. Tusker Lager: For that grilled warthog sandwich on the banks of the Zambesi.

Okay, those are the Bossman’s picks. How about yours? Roll out the barrel, and let's talk some smack over suds.
