Today was the 2nd (and last) day of the Southeastern Jambo. For no reason in particular we felt like getting a little quality time with some NMRO mud racing. We haven't been able to watch the go-fast classes of mud racing for quite a while and we forgot how much fun it is to watch a blown, stupid-fast mud buggy blast down the track. The roar is so loud we had to go buy earplugs just to stand down by the track and shoot photos. Even then the vibrations of the big-block engines at full-throttle was so intense we're pretty sure our eyeballs will never quite bleeding. Gotta love it. And there were some wheelies too!
Of course we didn't spend all of our time on the track. We hit the Show 'n Shine area and perused the goings-on. Look who we ran into. It's Rodger Dalrymple from Clemson 4 Wheel Center and Chris Durham from Chris Durham Motorsports. Good to see these boys reprezentin' in Anderson.
By noontime the crowds were beginning to filter into the grounds even with big thunderstorms looming. Oh, we also ran into General Lee.
By mid-afternoon the stands were full as folks kicked back to watch the aforementioned mud racing.
The event is now over-and-done. We're hearing rumors that the Anderson County Fairgrounds has been sold to make way for new development, so the 4Wheel Jambo may be hunting a new home for next year. We'll keep you posted.
We're not heading back to the office quite yet. OFF WE GO to North Carolina tomorrow to attend a program to introduce the new BFG Long Trail T/A. Naturally we'll have coverage of both the Southeastern Jambo and the Long Trail T/A in an upcoming issue of Four Wheeler.
