A Ram 2500 Built for Desert Assault Trips.

When Kim Schwint of Willits California decided to trick out his ’06 Dodge Ram ¾-ton he knew what he wanted. And that wasn't another poser rig that couldn’t handle high-speed maneuvers. Nope, this rig was going to be different. Schwint wanted to tackle serious high-speed desert terrain, like the kind you find in southern California, Nevada and Baja. To accomplish this he first dropped the truck off with the capable fab gurus at DC Customs of Ukiah, California. DC Customs performed most of the build-up in-house, begining with a KORE Technical Series 5.5-inch suspension system.

The additional inches made room for a set of 37-inch Toyo MTs on powder coated black Walker Evans bead locks. To keep with the go-fast desert look Schwint ordered a whole assortment of Glassworks Unlimited fiberglass body parts. The guys at DC Customs installed the Glassworks parts and had them painted to match the viper red paint scheme by a local auto body shop.

 A pair of burly bumpers were powder coated black and mounted to the truck by DC Customs. The front Road Armor unit features Piaa driving lamps and a Warn M-15000 electric winch. The rear Fab Fours bumper improves back-end beef while also providing two sturdy extraction attachment points.

The rear of the truck received a Prerunner Series Tire Gate to manage the full-size spare tire and a black powder coated toolbox/fuel tank combo to keep valuables safe.

The Bed cage

The inside of the bed was coated by Line-X and then modified to accept a custom fabricated bolt-in rear shock tower that allows the rear of the truck to cycle 14-inches without obstruction. A pair of 3.0 double bypass Fox Racing shocks come up through the bed and compliment the custom tower.

Simple and strong.

A Carli long-travel air bag setup keeps the rear suspension ready for towing duties while allowing the full range of motion, absent of restriction.
Later on down the road Schwint plans to add a Bully Dog PMT, ATS turbo, BD intercooler and a set of injectors, but first he needs to get the stock 48RE automatic rebuilt. We love the clean look of this rig and think it would make a great cover truck. What do you think?
