Baseball Is Under Way

I am going to start blogging about things that aren't related to trucks and my first post in this season will focus on my favorite past time, BASEBALL!

Torii and Monkey

Oh yes - hot dogs, Rally Monkey, 40,000 friends, fresh cut grass, a crack of a bat. BASEBALL is back, specifically Angels Baseball. Football - see ya. Basketball? Who cares? (okay, Final Four is the exception) Hockey...Yawwwwwwwwn. Yes it is the 162 game marathon that comes around when Brubaker starts to thaw out that has me excited. You know, baseball is the only major sport that isn't determined by a clock. It runs at its own, natural pace. Nothing artificial (except for maybe the turf in Toronto). It is a thinking man's game full of suspense, surprise and strategy. It is also a game of skill and the mixture of the two is what makes baseball great.

Hunter Grand Salami

Yes, it was with great drama that my favorite team won last night with a walk-off Grand Slam. Nice! It didn't hurt that two great closers both blew saves to make it happen and it cerainly didn't hurt that this awesome shot came from our newest Angel - Torii Hunter. With 5 homers already, Torii is making his mark in Anaheim and looking to be the "big bat" everytone feared we still needed. In addition to veterans like Vlad, G.A., Sarge Jr., and Figgy, we have some players who are going to have career years this year, such as Kotchman and Kendrick. Napoli is look strong at catcher, and the pitching staff is still doing well through injuries - let's hope the can keep it up until Lackey gets back.

Hunter Celebration
Home

I like our chances to go all the way and finally beat out the nemises Boston. I am hoping fat Manny will continue to do stupid things, such as watch a home run leave the bat as he trots to first, only to realize it is 10 feet short. That would be nice and entertaining. And sorry Yankee fans, I just don't think you have the pitching.

My picks for the AL?
West - Angels
Central - Indians
East - Red Socks (say, they aren't named after "The Schilling Incident" are they?)
Wildcard - Detroit

Thanks for the win, Torii and welcome to Anaheim - you sir, are an Angel now. And once again we believe in the power of our Rally Monkey. Boston - this year we are coming for you, I can feel it!
