Hummer Pickup Is Revealed Prior To Chicago Debut

Once again, embargoes have been broken and you are the winner. Slated to be unveiled at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show, we have the goods on the newest Hummer early.

Here are the first pictures of Hummer's production 2009 H3T pick-up. As you can see, it will be a true pick-up and not an SUT and the H3T has become a crew cab, versus the concept's regular cab. The bed measures 5-feet long. Wheelers will be excited by a front locker to go with the rear (as all Hummer products will have available in 2009), and the same drivetrain choices, including the V-8 and Adventure package, as its SUV sibling.

Hummer also plans a number of accessories for the bed, including several

1. Oh wow!!! Another new Hummer!!!! I have ben a Hummer tech. for the past 18 years,working on millitary an civilian Hummers. So what type of 4x4 do I own?... You guesed it a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited. The Hummer will always be an overpriced, overdone pavement pounder.

2. People who are closed minded will miss out. I used to be a Ford guy and only a Ford guy. That is until doing this job for 5-years exposed me to almost every truck on the market. Then I realized what great vehicles are out there that I would be missing out on. The Rubicon is no doubt the premiere factory wheeler out there, but you are kidding yourself if you don't think Hummer is closing in fast.

3. I am thrilled they came out with a truck finally!! It's nice to have more choices than just jeep. Any word on a body style like the HMMWV 1025's coming out soon??

5. looks cool better idea but did they get the gas milage up looks to there grabing at straws jeep will still going to be better until they come out with six cylinder motor and you can get thousands of accessories with it to best idea for hummer so far a truck good idea now if the price is right not like buying a house

6. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy working on , driving and owning different typs of vehicles domestic or import. I too feel you miss out on all sorts of things if you stick to just one brand. I just think if Hummer wants to compete with Jeep and others then they should start by making there vehicles affordable to the average Joe. For example most people into 4x4 would love to compare the Hummer to the Jeep or other 4x4's but can't just walk in to the hummer dealer and purchas one for 60 plus grand even a half decent one 5-8 years old are at a painfull price.I still love working on them andbecause I am lucky enough I do enjoy driving them.

7. From what I have heard and read. I don't think they are going to put out a 1025 or closed back version. That would be nice and a bit diffrent, gues we'll have to wait an see.

8. Our Project Con Artist JK Unlimited Rubicon had a sticker of nearly $33,000. You can buy a Hummer H3 Adventure package for $33,075. Sounds close to me.

9. That's true. The thing is the Rubicon is top of the line for that price. The H3 even though a decent Hummer, is not compatable or the best they have avalible. It is kind of tid for tat but if you want to compare the best that both have to offer, price wise it just dosen't compare. It is cool that Hummer put out a affordable version but if you want the best Hummer you can get to the best Jeep it just dosen't compare. Now with Hummer tring to take the so called 4x4 title. It could result in some good things to come. like I said, good vehicle to expensive.

10. I did test out the H3 and some other vehicles before I opted for the Rubicon.
Now this H3 Alpha with the 5.3 has got me interested. I will deffinatly keep up with the project yous are doing on it.

11. The prices I quoted are with comparable equipment. For that price you get a Wrangler with a V-6, six-speed, front and rear lockers, 4:1 T-case, upgraded wheels and tires. For that price with the H3 you get an I-5, 5-speed, rear locker (front in '09), 4:1 T-case, and upgraded wheels and tires. They are a lot more comparable than you think. You don't need a top of the line Hummer to compare with the Jeep because many features optional on the Jeep are standard on the base Hummer, and the top of the line H3 has options the Jeep doesn't offer, such as a V-8 and leather.

12. There GM goes again, ruining another brand! Wow. They are getting really good at it!

The did it with Saab, totally de-saab'ing them, now as an owner of a Hummer, it is depressing to see them making Hummer less than it deserves, practically turning it into a regular crew cab truck. Sure the impracticality of a shorter bed (keeping the Hummer-look) is not very useful, not many Hummer owners buy for practicality. The discontinued the H1, now they are just going to keep making a cheaper and cheaper one and ruin the brand again.
