So I have been hard at work the last few months, wrenching on the Colonel, Building up the 'Con Artist, writing FWOTY, and I just need a little break. Fortunately things slowed down for the holiday, allowing me some more family time, and a little spare time to get hooked on something new...
Yes, I have a Wii. And I have a new affliction, potentially more powerful than wheeling an writing. Yes, thats right, Super Paper Mario and Zelda sit down, the new object of my affection (next to my wife and daughter, of course) is Guitar Hero III. One of the hardest games to find this holiday season.
It all started when I went to my best friends house and he had gotten GHIII for his daughter. He looked at me, I looked at him and we started rocking out. Beers were consumed, time wasted, and wives upset, but we battled eachother to become virtual rockstars and I knew I needed one.
After a day of searching Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, and GameStop to no avail, I ordered my GHII from the manufacturer.
Yesterday, the doorbell rung and as I opened the door the friendly UPS man gave a wave and on my doorstep was the most beautiful brown cardboard box I have ever seen. As if I had X-ray vision, I knew it contained not a Red Ryder Carbin-Action Two-Hundred Shot Range Model Air Rifle with the Compass in the stock (but that would have been good too), no it was my latest past time - Guitar Hero III for the Nintendo Wii!
Tearing in to the package like a raptor on a carcass, I revealed my new Gibson Les Paul game controller and immediately plugged in my Wiimote. I slid the CD in to the Wii and my 50-inch Samsung HDTV lilluminated with the light of 100 stars - ROCK STARS! I strapped on my guitar and I was READY TO ROCK!
So far I have gotten 95-99% at normal speeds on Easy - I am both musically challenged and too lame to do a higher level at this point, but damn if it still isn't fun to rock out with Mike Ness. Got an awesome score or a favorite part of Guitar Hero from any console, let's hear it.
The wife and baby are asleep, time for Daddy to get a little Mii time, if you know what I mean.
