We're discussing new FW events for 2008. What would you like to see?

As many of you know, we canceled our Real Truck Club Challenge this year as we reorganized our events department for 2008. Now, we're sitting down and discussing what kinds of events or shows (if any) we should hold in the coming year. Should we:

Bring back Real Truck?

Host a Mudfest?

Hold a Rockcrawling competition?

A stadium race?

How about a Tough Truck race?

A good old-fashioned truck show?

Monsters?

Something else? And where should we hold these events?

Now's your chance to tell us. What kinds of would you like to see Four Wheeler get involved in, and where and when would you like to see them?

16. you should run some stockers on a trail with some mud and some small rocks cause every one cant afford the good stuff pluse it would be fun to see what shows up.

18. I vote RTCC!! This is a event for the average Joe to compete in. Events like this get others who don't have the big bucks interested in these sports,by showing them that the weekend 4 wheeler and the guy around the corner can have a competible 4wd without being sponcered by big name distributors or automotive teams. We are out here and we wheel to with our REAL home built rigs.

19. This is a event that has grew each year. You could join up with us and make it a bigger and better event. We are improving on the event and gaining wide recognition all over. and even had a Four Wheeler Mag coverage. Just a though.

20. How about a demolition derby between the staff of Four Wheeler and the guys over at Petersen's?

Thanks for all your suggestions (especially "Beer Can Challenge"--sweeeet!). I don't wanna be a wet blanket, but I should tell you, there's simply no way we could run a series of RTCC-type events at different venues each year. We don't have an "events department" the way some big companies do, which means that all the logistics, planning, scouting, permits, insurance, etc. have to be handled by the editors in their spare time---and trust me, we just wouldn't have the time (or the budget, truth to tell) for something so ambitious, much as we might like to see it. As a point of reference, Top Truck Challenge, which is a pretty easy plug-and-play event for us by now, still takes some four months of planning to pull off.

But the FW Brain Trust will be meeting later this week to figure out what we can do next year that'll be fun and feasible and which will appeal to lots of our readers. We'll keep y'all posted.

21. Whatever you decide, keep it real. High dollar sponsered rigs and buggies are nice but I am betting that most of your readers want to see something similar to what they have. Just make sure you sign me up!

24. Bring back RTCC. It's an event that is truly unique in the offroading world and is a great showcase for FourWheeler Magazine and its loyal readership. I look fondly upon the everlasting memories the event created for our club. A single event per year in one location is fine. I like the idea of the "club" aspect as well, maybe play that up more. I realize it's a ton of work, but it's worth it in my opinion.

25. The Cadillac jeepers have started putting together the plans for the next blessing of the JEEPS. All 4wd vehicles welcome and is a great event. Once again I would like to suggest it. There is plenty of time before May for everyone to plan to attend. cadillacjeepers.com

26. Thanks for the tip, Ron. Our boy Brubaker was out there a couple of years ago (and he doesn;t even own a Jeep; I think he got blessed anyway, though), he said it was a lot of fun, so it may be high time we sent him back next year.

Also, as a teaser, I watched a 2-hour semi-finished rough cut of our Top Truck Challenge 2007 DVD last week. The finished product won't be out for another couple of weeks, but based on what I watched, it just might be the best TTC video we've ever produced. Keep an eye on these blogs---we'll let you know when the DVD is available for sale, but you WON'T wanna miss this year's version! All the lamest elements of past vids---too much music, too many talking heads, too many boring interviews, not enough action---are gone this time.

27. Thank for thinking of our great event again. We are realy thinking and planning a for a even better Blessing this year. We would love to beat 550 jeeps and 800+ would be supper. 28. Our club had its Quarterly meeting and we discussed the Blessing of the Jeeps Event. I told them of your responce and they werer very glad to here of your interest in the Blessing again. Is there any way you could have Mr. Brubaker Contact me to discuuss the possable or confirm his comming to the event in May 2008. We are putting together our event book for next year and it would be great to be able to add Four Wheeler to the list of large sponcors. haveing you on board would not only be helpfull to the Cadillac Jeepers and there event but to the whole four wheeling community as well. This event is not only for Jeeps we will let other vehicles particapate and get blessed as well. We also discussed if there may be a possable chance that you could run a small article in one of the months preceeding the Blessing in hopes to get the word out again to fellow Jeepers from outside of Michigan.
