After thinking about it for years, I might actually be ready to pull the trigger and add a flat fender to the garage. A beautiful Harley Sportster and Project RangeRunner need to go, but this is a good chance to get in to a pristine Flattie...

Project RangeRunner has been sitting for a while, as I have been hard at work on Project 'Con Artisit, and with a baby girl on the way, the Ranger doesn't exactly have the credentials to be a good family hauler. I just bought my wife a new car, so that end of the family hauling has been handled (plus 'Con Artist can take a baby seat now and then) and with two motorcycles, it is time to cut the fleet down. The Buell stays and the Harley goes.

I'd love to see the Ranger go to a good home, to someone who will enjoy it and with the proceeds from the Ranger, I can hopefully complete my trail cred by picking up that Flat Fender I have always wanted. The one I am looking at is a very clean '51 CJ-3A, recently frame-offed and updated with Wrangler seatbelts (see, the baby can ride too!), my wife has seen the pictures and approves.

Here are some photos, what do you think? Is it time to step up to Flat Fender ownership?

2. Yes, Pewe has wielded his powers of influence over me for about 15 years that I have been reading his work and the 5 or so years I have worked with him. I have finally cracked. Maybe it was Hazel, maybe it was the Flattie Kool Aid I have been drinking, I don't know, but I do know I am looking forward to this new adventure in Flattiie ownership - well, if I can swing it. Hard ot get nice things on an editor's salary, but I will keep you guys in the loop.

3. Well, the Sportster is sold and the Willys is bought. Brubaker and I are picking it up on May 30th just prior to TTC and I can't wait. My mind is already swirling with ideas to make it better. Stockton steelies, BFG M/Ts, Deaver Spring lift, Bilstein shocks, 11-in brakes, Line-X in the tub, winch, bumpers, lights, etc.

What do you guys think? I guess we'll have to figure out a name for this project!

4. I say you put a stinger on the back and call it "Project Bumble Bee"! It's already yellow and has black on it, so it fits. No? Oh well, I tried.
