I have decided to upload some random staff photos that are floating around my hard drive and post them up on this blog so you can see the staff behind Four Wheeler and what we look like behind the scenes. Please feel free to comment and if there is a positive response to this post, I'll be happy to share some more images with you guys.
So without further delay, lets meet the staff:
Tha' Boss aka Bossman - Douglas McColloch, Editor of Four Wheeler magazine. Doug has been a part of Four Wheeler off and on for more years than I can count on two hands, and being over 6-feet tall with red hair, he is an easy one to spot in a crowd. Usually the last staff member I lose track of at an auto show or event. Doug handles most of our international travel, some OEM coverage and tell us what type of stories he'd like to see from us in the coming months. Doug is never far from a Vente Starbucks cup and he is also the guy that reads ALL of your mail.
Boo Boo aka Chi Town Thug Boy - Ken Brubaker, Senior Editor. If you don't know Brubaker's name, you obviously are a new reader to Four Wheeler, as Ken has had his byline in nearly every FW since the mid 90s. Ken is to FW as Mopar is to Dodge, as a mullet is to partying in the back, and as cammo is to the Midwest, which is appropriate considering Ken holds down our Midwest Bureau and gives us a more national flavor, rather than just a So Cal vibe. If you have ever been to a Midwest Jambo, you have probably had the pleasure of meeting Ken, one of the nicest and respected guys in the magazine world. Bring him a can of Coke early in the morning and he might even shoot your truck for the cover! Ken has a lovely wife and three great kids.
Stovepipe - Robin Stover, Feature Editor. Those of you who frequent online communities have probably run across Robin discussing TTC or the latest Mega project vehicle. Robin is usually running around, chasing down the latest new products and trends in wheeling and reporting them in Four Wheeler. If you ever come across Robin on the trail, ask him if he'll give you a ride, it is an experience you are sure to remember. He is also our resident Baja racer and go fast guy.
Me (hmm, not sure what they call me) - Sean P. Holman, Tech Editor. I am the guy who writes most of the new car reviews, handles Four Wheeler's fleet, coordinates Staff Trail Rides and FWOTY, and does lots of project vehicle tech. So when you hate the winner of FWOTY, your letters and e-mails usually run across my desk. Like Robin, I also am a go fast guy, and have a Baja 1000 win under my belt co-driving, I am also a trail guy and love to go exploring and camp in the backcountry away from everything. I am getting hitched on April 10th and I have a baby girl on the way. We are expecting her grand entrance in mid-July. Oh yeah, I am addicted to Dr. Pepper, so offer me some when I am thirsty and I might have some FW swag for ya'.
So that's our in-house editorial staff. We also work with a great pool of freelancers, such as Willie Worth, Ned Bacon, Jimmy Nylund, Tori Tellum, Harry Wagner and countless others. Maybe in a future post I can introduce you to them, as well as some of our support staff.
